Is Tennis Good For You?
Of course it is, Tennis provides a total body workout by:
- Strengthening your arms, back, abs, bottom and legs
- Rallying, which is a good cardiovascular workout
- Improving coordination/balance/speed/competitiveness
- Working your glutes and inner and outer thighs as you become a better player
Tennis keeps your mind on the ball – it’s a mentally challenging game where speed and reaction are paramount.
Tennis gives you great bones. According to the National Osteoporosis Society, Tennis is an excellent exercise for your skeleton because it’s a weight-bearing exercise exerting a force that stretches and contracts the muscles, stimulating the bones they are attached to, to strengthen. Weight-bearing exercise is one of the most important ways that people can prevent osteoporosis.
Tennis can make you happy. Reach for the racket - exercise of all kinds can improve people’s moods. Ninety per cent of research has found that exercise has antidepressant effects.
Tennis is fantastic for kids’ development - improving co-ordination, balance, fitness, self-confidence, concentration, respect, communication skills, independence, intellectual stimulation and determination. Doesn’t always work on adults unfortunately.
